I meandered back to my childhood with this one! I remember using woodburning tools along with my siblings while growing up. We all made our own plaque for mom on a particular Mother’s Day. They were quite the masterpieces!
I recall being mesmerized about how this little tool could burn wood so easily – and create marks that could actually become beautiful!
I made these particular wine cork plant markers for THIS project, and love them! They were so easy to make and such a fun addition to the Cocktail Herb Garden. I’m sure they would work in any indoor or outdoor garden.
Here is what you will need:
- Wine corks
- Toothpicks or Wooden skewers
- Woodburning tool
Add the fine point tip to your tool and heat up for about 5 minutes ***watch out! It gets super hot***
Take your first cork and hold firmly between your fingers. Visualize how much room your particular word will need. Using the tip lightly, sketch your word. When you are satisfied, thicken the lines by laying the tip of the tool along the pre-sketched lines. Nice thing is, the corks are free, so if you make one that you aren’t happy with, just toss it and try again!
Push the sharp end of the toothpick or skewer into the bottom of the cork. If using skewers, you can adjust the height by cutting off the length of the skewer.
That’s it! Go make you some!
