The kids and I recently watched the movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs again and the general consensus was we all loved it… again! It’s such a classic story that teaches one of the greatest moral dilemmas of our time. Do I do the right thing, even though it means I won’t get the recognition I have always craved?
Well, if you haven’t seen it, I wont spoil it for you, but please…go out and rent/buy/stream it right away. You won’t be sorry! Plus, you’ll have to get all caught up for the sequel coming out soon. September 27th to be exact! My kids and I will be headed to the theaters as soon as they are let out of school that day!
One of the main concepts in the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 movie is the addition of morphed food-animals…Foodimals! How clever is that! The kids and I were visiting the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Facebook page and were cracking up over the creatures.
We decided to make one of our own, and with cantaloupes in season around here, it made for some thrifty fun!
Start by cutting just about an inch off one side of the first cantaloupe.
Take your knife and cut out a semi-circle
Scoop out all the seeds and pulp
Take some of the seeds and rinse them off. Let dry on a paper towel
Start adding the ‘teeth’ by pushing the pointed end of the seed into the flesh of the cantaloupe, just inside the mouth
Line the entire mouth, using as many seeds as you like
Push the peppercorns into the side of the cantaloupe, just above the mouth. Make sure that the eyes are close to the rind
Cut a rectangular slice right on the top of the cantaloupe.
Using the uncut cantaloupe, slice a wedge out of it that will fit into the rectangle and will act as the antler 🙂
Let your kids delight in their Foodimal creation!
