Have you ever sewed up the Oliver + S Popover Sundress? I’ve made several versions of this sundress every year for my daughter. It’s a fail-safe pattern and I couldn’t have come up with anything more simple and classic! Plus, you get to show off some cute fabric!
It’s a free pattern from 2 to 8 years, so whatever stage your girly is in, chances are you can whip this sundress up in a matter of a few hours. I think this makes a great base for a dress if you want to go crazy and add some elements and features to make it your own. I found the dress runs true to size, giving the wearer a roomy frock that’s easy to run and play in.
I got the fabric from Spoonflower in the cotton poplin option. It’s called Take the Detour Route and was the winner of the Urban Sightings contest. I love it! It’s soft and the color is crisp. This was my first time using fabric from Spoonflower in a garment, and it was awesome…just pricey! The poplin is soft and easy to work with and I would recommend it if you don’t mind the cost.
