DIY: Doily Embroidery

DSC_2272
One of my goals, albeit small, is to try some stitching this year…cross-stitch, embroidery, etc.
Embroidery has so many different types of stitches and I didn’t know quite where to start!  I had purchased some doilies at the dollar store ages ago and never used them.  It hit me that a doily is like the perfect piece of ‘fabric’ for practicing stitching…a ready-to-stitch canvas, a great design, easy ‘fabric’ to get your needle through, and a ready-made design to complete.

And the piece I practiced with actually came out cute!  I’m sure you could even get more elaborate than I have, but I wanted to keep it simple for little punk’s room.  Are you ready to try something new?  Start here to see if you like it!
