I think I will make regular quick totes, so I can make a few. My son has also been treated at Children's in Minneapolis, for very much NOT life threatening issues, and got excellent care, so this one is close to my heart.

I think these little kid size duffels would look great with some green webbing to match the elephants!

I have really been thinking about sewing for a reason rather then to save money on gifts and for the love of sewing. I wanted to make things for people in need. This project I am going to do even if I do not win the fabric. But I live to make bags and I am very excited to sew for a purpose. Thank you for getting involved in helping others out. I am excited to join. I really like the bag with some kind of crayon holder.

I love that messenger bag!

I'm about to have a baby in 2 weeks so I think I'd start making that kids bag with the crayons, or even a diaper bag.
That material's pretty cute.

That fabric would make such a cute messenger bag or two.

What a great idea. I have been looking for a new project to start. I'm defiantly making a couple of the the kid size messengers, would look super cute in elephants with a bright yellow or orange lining. I will have to get going on one of the drawstring tote as well in a girly print, so cute.

I would love to make a kids tote for my little girl that is going to preschool now. OR for my little boy that will be going before I know it! The fat quarter bag by cicadadaydream looks fun, easy and simple.

I would have to make a bag with a felt animal crayon holder on it, like the second picture you posted. This is dear to my heart because a family at church just lost their almost 2 y/o to leukemia. I pray that Craft Hope stays strong for a long long long time.

Not one, but two messenger bags following a tutorial I saw many time ago and I've always coveted to make. For my princesses, of courses, just about to turn three.

Btw, love your blog.

I was going to say the messenger bag, but then my 4-year-old gasped with excitement at the monster/crayon holder bag. Looks like that's a goodie! :)

I would make a little bag I designed for my daughter and her friends. We call it a "church bag" because it has spots for crayons, a notepad, and a tiny doll to keep her quiet, I mean occupied and happy, during church! :)

I would make a simple tote (similar to the owl bag) with cute little embelishments (buttons, bows, etc), and fill it with some fun treasures.

Such a great project. I would like to make some of the bags for carrying crayons and coloring book. My daughter has been in the hospital a few times so I know it's challenging to keep kids occupied even when they aren't feeling well.

I do love that lunch bag --- the first one you showed in your favourites. I think the elephants would love grand made up in it ... something a child would surely love and not just for lunches. Imagine the treasures one could store and cart about in it!

Handmade bags for kids going through cancer treatments is a very nice idea. I know when I went for chemo as an adult, I needed a large bag just to carry all the things I would need to get me through the ordeal in some relative comfort.

Sarah said...

How have I never seen this site before! The first bag I plan on making the not-so-big messenger bag. There is nothing cuter than a little kid sporting a mini adult bag. My next bag (because there is always a next) will be he monster bag. So, so cute!

Simonsen said...

What a great project. Would love to make a mini colouring tote (or the one with the monster).

The elephant is the Target house mascot at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. I would turn this into a tote and fill it with soaps and donate it there. I'm seeing elephants everywhere lately and feel very inspired!
