Romper Remix

A few weeks ago, I guest posted over at Me Sew Crazy.  It was right in the thick of Scrap your Stash, so you may have missed it if you blinked or sneezed.  The challenge was to take an existing pattern and rework it into something else.
My first thought was Eeeewwwww, I can’t do that!

After trying to weasel out of it agreeing to it, I found an old pattern that was one of my first purchases when I began sewing…

It has made many an overall.   But, I figured it would be a safe starting point.

Now, I didn’t get all crazy, mind you.  I made alterations that were fairly simple, but I love the outcome!

It stretched my brain and forced me to re-think how patterns are constructed.  My favorite addition?  That big ol’ bow.  It’s pure sass.

And the best part?  She loves it!

The modifications I made were adding belt loops between the bodice and bottoms

Shortening the leg length significantly and adding an elastic casing for a gathered look

I also made it easier by adding velcro as the strap closure instead of the dreaded snap

Have you ever stretched yourself to make a new pattern from an existing one?  I think I’m hooked!

See ya next time!
