I love this top! I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, but it was super simple and it is very unique. It actually feels kinda biker-chick-like, if your into that sort of thing. The ribbon is interchangeable and can be worn in any color you wish.
I think red would be cute for Valentine's Day :)
Lets get started...
Materials Needed
1 T-shirt that fits you
1 spool of 3/8" ribbon
1 yard of 1" grommet belt trim
(I bought my grommet trim at my local Joann's store in the bulk trim aisle)
2. With your sewing machine set on zig zag (I used a wide, short stitch) sew the two pieces together. I found that pinning was unnecessary. The presser foot can tend to ride up on the grommets and push the tape apart, but just go slow and keep lifting the presser foot to adjust as needed.
Here are the two pieces stitched together
3. Now take your shirt and find the center and pin it to the front of the shirt. Stitch along all the edges including the top near the neck.
All stitched up and ready to be laced
4. Starting at the bottom, take the laces up and thru alternating just like a shoe-lace. Lace it all the way up and bring up enough extra to make a nice bow once we are done. Then work the other side up.
And you're done!
Post to flickr if you make one!

See you next time :)
