Dear My Kids is having a pattern maker's contest, and I made the
top 8 with this set! Click here to go vote!
From an Igloo posted this contest a while ago and I thought I'd give the DMK patterns a try. They have a great selection of children's patterns on Etsy, along with felt food patterns and women's patterns too! I ended up making a 2T for the punkette and the sizing was spot-on. The printable pattern does come WITHOUT the seam allowance, which was a first for me. It was a little more labor intensive, adding the 1/2 inch seam allowance myself. I just used tailor's chalk and cut! She has a few more pattern's coming out soon and rumor has it she has added in seam allowances in these.
For the outer, I used a pink/chocolate chevron tweed fabric. The lining is TweetTweet Leaves Bark by Keiki for Moda. I love the combination together, very autumn feeling, yet girly girl.
This was my first time making buttonholes, and I have to tell you I was terrified! I ended up finding this fabulous tutorial and she built my confidence up tremendously. I did practice, and fine tune about 10 times on scrap fabric before I attempetd on my finished coat. All that practice paid off becuase they came out perfect!
Don't forget to go vote! The winner gets a choice of 10 patterns from the DMK Store! YAY!
