While making the Patchwork Sleeping Sack, I decided to document the process since AMH did not in her book. I really would have no idea how to do this if I hadn’t taken a quilting class a few years ago and made these. That’s alot of piecing!
You will need:
1/4 yard’s of various fabrics or you could always use scraps too!
These will make your life much easier too:
Self Healing Mat
Lets get started!
I cut each of these squares 3″. I wanted my finished product to be 2 1/2″ square. So, the 3″ allows for a 1/4″ seam all the way aorund. You can make your squares larger or smaller, depending on the project you are making. Keep in mind, the smaller the square, the more work you are creating for yourself…somtimes I’d rather eat dirt than piece tiny little squares together, so just a fore-warning.
This patchwork piece took me about 1.5 hours to complete. For the Sleep Sack, I needed a 20×24 piece. I calculated in order to get that, I needed 8 squares across and 10 rows down at 2 1/2″ each.
Here we go….
